With more penpals than before, stacks of good books yet to be read, and a pile of new board games to play with my wife and son, I feel like I have officially hibernated over the past few weeks.

Never fear: we will get sunshine again.

(Maybe.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36092055.post-72866479105769203402011-01-14T11:57:45.848-08:002011-01-14T11:57:45.848-08:00Thanks, all.

Makes me think...I may start some herbs in window pots, to use a bit now and ultimately transplant outside (where likely either the dog will dig 'em up or I'll kill them in July by forgetting to water...but that's another story). Growing things make it feel a bit more spring-like!Elizabeth H.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09161162407130146871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36092055.post-73637009154006328662011-01-13T16:12:59.198-08:002011-01-13T16:12:59.198-08:00Love it. We had a bit of sun on Saturday and I felt better for a while, but now the gloom is back. Welcome back and happy new year. Sorry...Elizabeth,

Welcome back and happy new year. Sorry you have the weather blahs but glad you got out for a walk with Cisco. BTW, the photos worked out fine. I especially like the little creek surrounded by winter plants. Wish I could sketch good enough to recreate the scene.

A suggestion. I keep a few plants in small containers around to look at and care for during the winter and early spring. Primrose (nice scent) and crocus being forced for an early bloom. I like to watch the flowers first develop and bloom. I get them at the local supermarket for a couple of bucks. Add a small pot of hens and chicks brought in just before Christmas. They open up in the warmth and form fascinating shapes. All they require is weekly watering and a bright window, even on cloudy days. Reminds me that spring (and fishing) is not far away.

JeffAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36092055.post-23627986839955789172011-01-10T17:38:27.342-08:002011-01-10T17:38:27.342-08:00Beautifully written.
