Library haul!

Thanks for all the reading suggestions, folks! Some of the ones I looked for either weren't available at the local library (but can be requested from others in the system, which I do a lot), or were checked out...but I still came away with a decent stack today....

Library Haul

Oh, and for the record, they're sitting on thedoghouse, which my dog likes to climb up on and dig at, hence the busted shingles. It ain't pretty, but the light was better out there....

I'm so glad to see the Cloister Walk in your stack. I hope you like it!

If you ever struggle to find spiritual books at your local public library, check out your seminary library-it's a great resource!

I read another of Kathleen Norris' books a few months back and liked it, so I'm looking forward to diving into this one!

I don't think we have a seminary library nearby. :( I've been envying you! It used to be my Dad was my "seminary library". And regular library. And every other kind of library. He has an incredible range of books. But dropping by Vermont from Washington State on an evening after work isn't quite feasible....

He does send me things on occasion. I have some St. Francis de Sales I've yet to read, for one. Love him--it's amazing how relevant and approachable he is. People are the same in every age, I suppose, but it still surprises me sometimes how much his writing makes sense, all this long while later.

I just picked up the Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and its four sequels for 12 dollars at the half price book store. Man, I love that place

Hmmm...I think that maybe you'll have to tell us how Cloister Walk is. I clearly need to branch out in my reading a bit.

Now I see your book list on the side bar and notice Acedia and Me. That was also an excellent book. I've read all of her books. She is such an interesting person and a fabulous writer! If you liked Acedia and me, you are going to love Cloister Walk-I think it was her best.

I've yet to read any but the first of the Hitchhiker's Guide books; something I need to remedy someday. I enjoyed the first one. Everyone needs a little completely random goofiness in their life. ;-)

My stack is rather lacking in anything adventurous or mysterious or sci-fi-ish or such-like, isn't it? Maybe I can go there next.

Wonderful!
Looks like you found Elizabeth Berg.
Perhaps the stack needs some cheerful humor. P.G. Wodehouse? Dorothy Parker? S.J. Perelman?
(Love those Algonquin Round Table-ites)

Happy reading!

That stack of books looks luscious. A Kindle on the doghouse would not.

Just sayin.
