The first typewriter I had (other than my mother's Hermes 300), was a teal blue Smith Corona Corsair. I've almost bid on a couple on eBay, hesitating only because I hope I've outgrown the look of all that baby blue plastic.

And then, a week ago, I found one in a similar "grownup" shade of gray as that Olivetti. As far as I was concerned, it was the only Corsair in the world. Of course, the auction expired before I could bid... Some days, it just doesn't pay to go to work!

I haven't seen typewriters in local thrift shops in ages, but there's a local antique store that occasionally has a few. Last time I was there, they had a plastic-bodied Corsair. I'd offer to pick it up for you, but a) as I recall it's priced very high, and b) it's the aforementioned baby blue. ;) It's cute, though!

I have very, very bad shipping ju-ju, so I'm afraid of eBay at this point. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!
