Vanity, thy name is LFP

So...for practice purposes, to show the others how these tunes string together, I recorded a very quick-and-dirty version of the set of tunes a few friends and I are working on: Jeremy Moonshine/Lilting Banshee/Boys of Tandragee. And then, unrelatedly and serendipitously, I stumbled on Dropbox, and the fact that it allows you to upload and share things. And so I'm testing this. In theory, here be the recording. I'm curious if this actually works OK!

If it does, keep in mind this is a bare bones recording prior to our doing any arranging, so it's pretty simplistic and warts-and-all. It's like a preliminary sketch of a painting, so it's minus the detail and color.

Elizabeth,
The recording worked well and was wonderful. I love this kind of music.

Question: Was this finger picking or flat picking style? The notes are so distinct it sounds like flat picking but I'm not sure. I'm attempting to play guitar again but cleaning 40 years of rust off of my (former) skills isn't easy.

Thanks for the audio post.

Thanks, glad you could hear it!

I (attempt to) play guitar, both flatpicking and fingerpicking, but this recording is actually played on mandolin, with a heavy pick (Wegen M150--pricey but marvelous, and they last forever). Mando is really fun for playing this music since most of it was written with fiddle in mind, and mandolin is in the same tuning--it lays out very logically, and it's a lot easier to play fast on that little bitty fretboard!

Appreciate the specifics on the pick. I'll check out mandolins as a future project but suspect it won't work. I have very large hands and thick fingers and may not fit on the fret board. We'll see but even an A chord is a bit crowded these days.

Thanks Mike! I love my two fans! ;) I'm the craze that's sweeping the nation.

Seriously, thanks for beta testing for me, guys. I'll likely keep using Dropbox links to share things with friends and family. Seems to work pretty well, and it's easy to use. I like.
