It's October 7th. Do you know where your NaNoWriMo plot is?

Yup! Got an idea for NaNo. Sort of a fictional Steinbeck's "Travels With Charlie". My wife, bless her, suggested it since we'll be on the road a bit in November and our poodles will be with us some of the time. I have no idea how I might do this but I like the idea.
Most of this will be done on typewriter although I don't know which one(s). While traveling I'll use a good journal (no lack of those) and a Pelikan fountain pen. I have no fear of typing in public but want the convenience of the journal.
I have a basic idea but am deliberately leaving the plot vague this time. The idea is to be more spontaneous, feel the joy of writing (and typing), and just see what happens.
PS: Yay for Moomins! Did you see this? http://writingball.blogspot.com/2010/10/second-best.html
I think spontaneity is going to be the name of the game for me this year as well. I mean...I'm liable to finish pretty much no matter what. I'm bull-headed that way. But the last few years have been hard and I think the biggest reason is that I've become more and more uptight about writing. That's not good in general, and it's especially not good for NaNo enjoyment. And really, what's the point of doing it if it isn't at least *somewhat* fun?
So I may just write something completely off the wall and silly: maybe make lists of all the cliches in fantasy or sci-fi or detective fiction and try to write a story that incorporates them all. Or maybe even mix the cliches from all those genres together...end up with a hard-drinking detective on the down-and-out who stumbles through a rip in the space-time continuum and next thing he knows he's heading off on a quest to reclaim a golden key from the lair of a fire-breathing dragon in order to save the beautiful young princess from the glass castle at the top of the highest peak of the Mountains of Mist. Etc.
Richard, yes, I did see the Moomin post on your blog! It was what sent me scrambling to find this most awesome Goodwill stationery find. :)
