Monsters and Musgraves

Sometimes my desk looks like I killed a large, blue-blooded monster and tried to mop up the evidence. (In reality, this was just an unfortunate incident with a sample of Private Reserve Electric DC Supershow Blue--luckily most of the ink made it into a pen!)

And sometimes, even though I can't draw, I doodle monsters. Like this guy. (Apologies to Hank Sr.!)

In other news, I already broke my pencil buying moratorium. You knew that was going to happen, right? It's my birthday Monday. I used that as an excuse. That and the free shipping on Amazon orders over $25.  Has anyone else tried the Musgrave Test Scoring 100 (especially Speculator)? If not, I may pass some out. I'd be curious to get your thoughts.

Isn't that Supershow Blue beautiful? I'm a fountain pen guy, have been since I learned to write with pen in school in the sixties. Have a bunch of them, both vintage and newer. Thanks as always for your website! Richard K in Texas

Love those monsters! Now I have to look into getting some of that blue ink.

I look forward to your review of the Musgrave pencils, although I'm concentrating on ink more than pencils these days.

I love specialty items. I still have a photo editing pencil somewhere.

LFP, you're a menace. How am I supposed to save any money with you tantalizing me with shiny new pencil-majigs?

Shameful.

Oh, and happy birthday!

Of the ink samples I purchased from Goulet pens awhile back, the Diamine blues (Midnight and Majestic Blue) are probably grabbing me most...but that Electric DC Supershow Blue (which really needs a shortened nickname) is beautiful. Very vibrant. I have it in a note-taking pen at the moment, and it's easy to get distracted by the ink when I should be paying attention to meetings!

The test scoring pencil is designed to make a nice dark mark, like you'd need on Scantron tests. It's pretty soft--about 2B, I would guess, based on comparisons to other pencils--and very dark. Reviews in the pencil blog world seem to be mixed, so I'm a little afeared of sticking a review out there, unknowledgeable as I am! But I may, after a few weeks of using them. Thus far, my feelings are pretty positive, though. Speegle--want a couple? Seriously. I should do that.

And thanks for the birthday wishes!

You're a bad influence....after reading your comment over at Just Write I had to go and buy a few different pencils....not that I'm complaining!

What is it about us typewriter folk? We just all love to leave a mark of some sort, don't we?!
