An Open Letter to the Search Bots of the World (Concerning Haters)

Open Letter

And I would like to add, as search bot bait, poem haters poetry hater h8ter. Mmmkay?

Tell me I'm not the only one to get some odd repeated search terms!

Of course, *after* I write this rant, it occurs to me that maybe these people are all dyslexic, and really are looking for poetry haters or some such thing. Whatever. I'm determined to have my rant, nonetheless!

I'm sorry, but I didn't know anyone could do such a thing. I do hope such foolishness doesn't dissuade you from posting. Since I learned these typecasts exist, I have derived an awful lot of enjoyment from them. Not only about my beloved typewriters, but what is contained on the page.

I myself remain blissfully ignorant of what search terms are routing my way, and thanks to you I have even less curiosity about them.
I don't even remember any comments that would cause that on your blog. Maybe it's punishing you for non-digital text.

I don't have any problems with my search terms. It's mostly typewriter brands.

I wish I could match that, but my search terms a far more work-a-day and businesslike. Here's this month's:
1958 olympia sm3 typewriter
columbia index
corona four typewriter blue
corona no 4
delacroix liberty leading the people desktop
olympia de luxe werke
remington model 5 typewriter serial number
remington noiseless model 7
remington typewriter model 5
tipp ex voor typemachine

Kind of boring really in comparison with yours.

Oh, I'm more amused and befuddled by all this than anything. I guess I'm too subtle, and didn't convey that very well. No wonder search engines don't know what to make of me...

Seriously, though, I think it all goes to show that computers aren't as smart as we might like to think. Seems like the bots what build the data see "hate" somewhere in my blog's long history, and many instances of the word "poem," and hey presto, this *must* be a blog about hater poems! Whatever those are. Hater as a stand-alone word still ticks off my inner grammarian. (If that's the right term!)

Let's hear it for "search-bot hater poetry!"

One quibble, though: it's been pointed out that bots can't read typospheric content, including thoughtful, anti-bot commentary. The fact that OCR software still struggles to comprehend common typewriter fonts is proof that we carbon-based lifeforms still have an advantage over the silicon-based, would-be overlords.

The revolution will, indeed, be typewritten, because the bots won't see it coming.

And, what does it matter what brings readers to one's blog? They get here and they like what they see. That's what counts.

I love looking at my search terms on Google Analytics. They really show you the hidden side of society! My favourite this month is "Doritos pie chart". I do love Doritos, but I don't think my blog knows that!

It's the Singularity! Log off, LFP! It's after ya!

Dorito pie charts sound like a good way to make business meeting a whole lot more fun.

I would also like to take a moment to point out that I am still #1 in the entire Google-ous universe when it comes to "inane bunnies." That's right. Numbero uno, right here. Take *that*, all you haters!

And yes, continually commenting on your own posts is probably kinda lame.

What a polite complaint letter that was! I'm sorry to hear that the 'haters' are landing on your virtual doorstep.
