Addendum: just happened to think--the SG-1 is a 1959, making it 50 years old this year. A trip to the typewriter spa seems like a pretty nifty way to celebrate!
I am so glad that you made the trip!!! Two weeks is not to bad at all. And $55 dollars is such a steal. I know how you feel, I am just constantly thinking about the SG1 when it arrives and how joyous I am going to be. I as well will probably get it during the Nano month and will be a nice gift to type one once it comes. We will defiantly have to write our hearts out this year once they arrive back at home. Good for you LFP, I am so glad you made the trip!
I'm ridiculously proud of myself, though sheepish for being so. That drive would be such a non-deal for most folks.
When I get it back will likely depend as much on the weather as anything else. The Pacific Northwest has beautiful mild weather all summer...but now we reenter the monsoon season. ;-) Driving on Interstate in bitty car + misting rain + tractor trailer trucks + wind = not good. Might have at least some rain delays.
But I can't *wait* to see and try it after the magic is done!
Yeah, I'm conflicted about the price. On the one hand, I like a bargain--who doesn't? On the other hand, it's in my best interest that Ace stays around as long as possible, so I want 'em to do well, and therefore...well...you know.
GOOD FOR YOU!! I knew you'd get out there. Yes, that price is low low low. I think I already mentioned that it is in fact Ace that does the repairs. Wait, you realize that. Right.
I need to get back there and pick up a Royal Quiet De Luxe!

$55 is criminally low. You better haul in a few more before they realize their mistake.
I'm so proud -- like having a baby by proxy.
So jealous of your geographical advantages. But! Also filled with pride. Good job, lady.
$55. Jeezum Pete.

I'm jealous. My guy charges $89 to check out my machine, make any fixes or adjustments and give it a clean and lube...
Granted, he lives less than 5 miles from my house, but still, at $55 I'd take one or two more in for a look.
