Stick with it! This is my first year, and I am going to need as many good role models as possible.

Like Mike said! I've found (and Stephen King agrees with this) one of the best ways to get ready for a revision is to be involved with a new (NaNo) project for a few weeks. after that you will be eager to start revising and, distracted by the new project for a while, will approach it with fresh eyes and enthusiam.

Do it! Do it! Do it!

That's about all the enthusiasm I can muster. Oop -- one more:

Do it!

There. Elizabeth, let's have a private-public typing session. I'll take my Skyriter down to my car, and you take your SG3 (jealous) into a padded closet, and we'll see who can type the most and offend the least. I'm already becoming paralyzed at the fact that I'm considering typing during November's lunch breaks in our (very open, public, wall-less) office lobby. Ulp.

Of course, I think NaNo is really about training yourself into good writing habits, so setting aside some regular slice of time to revise would be a good thing. Maybe 1/2 hour every morning over the refreshing beverage of your choice?

Hee. Mr. Beepy. Loud upstairs neighbors are the WORST. I am still scarred by some very disruptive creeps who lived above me in a duplex going on 13 years ago. Brrr...

I've typed in public a few times, and no one has ever gotten mad. People are always fascinated and nostalgic.

I had an elderly gentleman thank me for typing in public: he said it did his soul good to hear the sound.

Do NaNo anyway (besides you may get to revising those stories during October if you know November will be 'booked'.)

Yours,
FedoraLV

I think part of my problem is high expectations. I feel like I have to do it all or nothing, because I've never had a problem finishing when I set my mind to it. Yeah, I did cheat one year. I had a story I really, really wanted to make progress on, and I added 50k to that instead of starting from scratch. But that's my one exception. Well...that and the year I failed miserably. But that was the fault of a really, really stupid plot. Um...I don't wanna talk about it.

If I could finish the rough draft of one story in particular, I think I'd feel better about NaNo. Maybe I need to make October a personal rough draft finishing month. PerNoFiMo?
