A wonderful depiction of a sensitive little girl. And while complete in itself, it makes the reader imagine what the adult will be like based on two paragraphs.
Just for clarification ('cause it just occurred to me a lot of folks probably didn't understand this bit), out here the last syllable of "Oregon" is kinda sorta pronounced "gun" (almost just "gn"), definitely *not* "gone," as it is often pronounced by folks elsewhere. I honestly do remember being really bothered by that as a kid.
